Radio Drama Revival

Showcasing the diversity and vitality of modern audio drama

Crazy Dog Video

March 13, 2008 By Fred

Alright, so hats off to the Sonic Society for first airing the news of great new Crazy Dog Audio Theater videos up on YouTube. I’ve only started to scratch the surface of this great new resource Roger’s put up for us all to enjoy, such as a sound effects tutorial and a video of musicians rocking out for the production Marsyas, the Hippest Satyr (part of the Audio Gothic collection which I hope to air on the show soon… as in tomorrow).

Yay! I’m so excited! I was sad that Roger seemed dejected in your interview. But, if you’re in Ireland and RTE doesn’t respond to what you are doing, it’s enough to make anyone depressed about making high-production-value radio.

    Richard,

Thanks for the comments, and I hope you enjoy the videos! It’s awesome to see behind the scenes of how GREAT audio drama is done… though I loved this SFX walkthrough the best. See, there are ways that video can be helpful to audio people!

I think looking at the overall “state of the art” when it comes to audio drama can be a bit of a downer for all of us, as much as I try to keep an upbeat approach and attitude on the show. After all, radio drama ain’t making no money any time soon. For the enthusiast, who cares, but from the serious applied professional, it raises a whole other can of worms.

    Thanks again for writing!
