Radio Drama Revival

Showcasing the diversity and vitality of modern audio drama

Episode 299 – The Damned Are Playing at Godzilla’s Tonight

October 6, 2012 By Radio Drama Revival

Seeing Ear Theater City of DreamsKicking off our fifth-annual month-long fright fright fest is a Seeing Ear Theatre original, The Damned are Playing at Godzilla’s Tonight.

This fresh, sizzling little haunter finds us at a run-down club in Los Angeles, where a repo-man comes to get the story out of the disheveled owner.  The harrowed man tells his story – and it is a story of racism in the music business, the haunting of living and dead, and a damn frightening tale of rock and roll.

Written by J. Michael Straczynski, it is said:

“For our first story, I wanted something with teeth, something that took one of the more common supernatural tropes and used it in a way that dealt with contemporary themes. It has kind of a Lovecraftian feel, starting at the end, then finding out how we got here, and why. Where else can you get all that *and* a commentary on the state of the music industry?” -JMS (Source: SFF Audio)

Wait…the title of this week’s program says the story will be “The Damned are Playing at Godzilla’s Tonight”, but the logo and the audio are both for “City of Dreams”.
